Free Music Frenzy On The Guinness Free Jazz TrailThursday, 26 April 2007Not content with offering some of the biggest names in music industry to the City, the 6th City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival in association with Diageo Northern Ireland have put together an unbeatable line up of music with the GUINNESS Free Jazz Trail. The Trail will see some 120 performances take place in over 50 venues around the City over the 4-day event featuring the best local, national and international talent. The crème of jazz and swing is set to perform at this year’s festival which takes place during the Bank Holiday weekend of Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th May 2007. The Guinness Free Jazz Trail is now a core element of the Jazz Festival, bringing some of the finest musicians in the world to play in some of the city’s most unique settings. All for free! However this is just a taster of the wealth of talent on this year’s Guinness Free Jazz Trail so pick up a brochure and check out who’s playing near you!! This year’s menu has a range of entertainment on offer throughout a host of pubs, bars, restaurants and venues across the city. Thursday will see the festival get off to a delicious start at lunchtime at the University of Ulster at Magee and a Jazz and Big Band Tea Dance at the Guildhall. You don’t have to miss out on the fun just because you have a little shopping to do, from 2pm onwards both Foyleside and The Richmond Centre will host a variety of Jazz Artists that will ensure that you bop while you shop! Jazz festival highlights include the Extraordinaires, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, The Jive Aces, the Kings of Rhythm, the The Roaring Forties and Les Swimgin’ Lovers.
