Celtronic present Headman (Relish - Berlin) at City of Derry Jazz Festival

Celtronic's main event at this years City of Derry Jazz and Big Band
Festival willtake place at The Nerve Centre, Magazine St, Derry on Saturday May 5th. Special guest at the event will be Berlin based, Swiss DJ/Producer Headman.

Over the past seven years, Headman, real name Robi Insinna, has become feted for producing a string of inventive and extremely danceable records. His releases on labels such as Gomma, Output and Relish have added a certain continental sheen to the New York-born sounds of punk-funk and electronic disco. As a remixer he has added his unique touch to artists such as Franz Ferdinand, Annie, The Rapture, Royksopp and Mylo. Most of his remixes are now considered as dancefloor classics DJs and find their place in the bag of Tiga, 2 Many DJs, James Murphy and Erol Alkan to name but a few.

In addition to Krautrock disco punk house bass fuelled DJ sets, Robi
releases albums under the Manhead and Headman monickers. The recently
released Headman LP ‘On’ features collaborations with acts such as The
Rapture, Soulwax, and Erol Alkan. He has just completed a European tour
playing live supporting Soulwax. 2006 saw him touring all around the world in the biggest clubs and the most famous festivals, from Europe to Australia to USA and Canada. Support at the event comes from Deep Fried Funk DJ's and Chaz. Doors: 9.30pm – Late. Adm: £8/10. This is a pay at the door event.

This event will be part of an action packed weekend of entertainment in the city when the crème of jazz and swing will be performing as part of the 6th City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival from Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th May 2007. This year’s event features a host of top class entertainers including the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Ruby Turner (London); Bodil Niska (Norway); King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys (Birmingham); the Extraordinaires (London); Les Swingin' Lovers (Paris); the Kings of Rhythm (Liverpool); the Jive Aces (London); Greggi G and The Crazy Gang (London); Cat Scratch Fever (Liverpool); Su Eyo (Liverpool) and Damien Evans (Australia), as well as popular Irish artists including the Leading Ladies, Siobhan Pettit and Henry McCullough.
