Rock Takes Centre Stage At Jazz FestivalOne of rock’s biggest names, Henry McCullough, will be appearing at the Waterside Theatre on Saturday 5th May at 8.00pm as part of the 6th City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival, which takes place during the Bank Holiday weekend from Thursday 3rd - Sunday 6th May 2007 . Tickets for this one-off event are priced £7 and £5. The crème of jazz and swing will be performing at this year’s festival featuring a host of top class entertainers including the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Ruby Turner (London); Bodil Niska (Norway); King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys (Birmingham); the Extraordinaires (London); and Les Swingin' Lovers (Paris) to name but a few. Henry McCullough has built up a reputation as one of modern rock’s most legendary figures. And he’s performed with many world-renowned bands including Paul McCartney’s ‘Wings’, Joe Cocker, Donovan and Marianne Faithful. Henry, along with Denny Seiwell, Denny Laine and Linda McCartney were the first - and many say best incarnation of Wings. He embellished the single 'My Love' with a graceful solo that is one of the all-time guitar gems and shows once and for all the expressive power of the instrument. One of the festival organisers said they were delighted to have him make a return to the city. “When it comes to guitar playing, Henry McCullough is one of the modern greats. He’s had an impressive career working with some of music’s most legendary performers – everyone from Paul McCartney to Joe Cocker. This is a great chance to hear one of Northern Ireland’s great musical talents live. “ For more information about Henry McCullough and other performers taking part in the City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival go online at: www.cityofderryjazzfestival.com Tickets for his gig are available from the Waterside Theatre Box Office.
