Harry Connolly Band

Harry was one of the founder members of the Cork Jazz Festival the largest festival in Europe now and hold the unique distinction on being the only group to play at every Cork Jazz Festival since it inception on 1978. And booked again for 2011. Over the years guest players appear with Harris Band read like a Litany of Jazz greats. Buddy Greco, Buddy Tate, Gilad Atzmon, Acker Bilk, Kennt Ball, Len Mc Carthy, Ryan Quigley, Noel Kelehan, Jim Doherty, Louis Steward, Jive Aces, Richie Buckley, Fiona Trotter, Ian Date, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys, Siobhan Petitt.

Harry and friends have had great success playing the European Jazz Circuit for a number of years, appearing at the Silda Jazz Festival in Norway for the last ten years. The band provides a diversity of styles, Harry plays tenor sax and flute and has a great Jazz vocal style, and he has a great rap pore with his audience. On Alto Sax we have Gay Mc Intyre, Possibly one of the greatest alto players ever to grace these shores, he was featured soloist with the RTE Symphony when he was 16, played with Dave Brubreck offered a job with Nat King Cole, a lifetime friend of Jazz greats all over the world.

John Trotter plays Piano with the band but his main instrument is Trombone, as a matter of fact John is a Multi Instrumentalist, he is an expert in Scottish and Irish Traditional Music, a great exponent of Cuban Salsa music, combine this with a great singing voice, and you have a Formidable Musician.

On drums Charlie Burton who also doubles on vocals is the power house of the band, Charlie has played with some of the best jazz outfits in Ireland and Eng-land.

Bass Player Paddy O Sullivan a native of Cork City has had the opportunity of playing with some of the top artists who appear at the Cork Jazz Festival. Paddy is a Connoisseur of Guinness and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records.

To complete the line-up we have George Hasson on trumpet George has worked in The United States, Recorded with Paramount Records and travelled the world as a jobbing Trumpet Player.

As a band Harry and Friends enjoy playing Music, as a result their Audience en-joy listening to it.
