“Mick Flannery is a singing and songwriting force to be reckoned with.” The Irish Times
Cork songsmith Mick Flannery’s debut album Evening Train featured tracks which had won him two awards in the Nashville International Song Writing Competition, judged by his idol Tom Waits. White Lies, his second release in 2008, achieved a top ten position in the Irish Albums Chart. It later went platinum and was nominated for the Choice Music Prize. The Irish Times placed him in "The 50 Best Irish Acts Right Now" published in 2009 and later that year he also won Best Irish Male at the Meteor Awards. Ewan Pearson (Kompakt-Misericord-Berlin) + support
Celtronic, Irelands premier electronic music festival, have programmed events at the Jazz festival since 2002. The lineup for Celtronic 2012 will be revealed at a special event at An Culturlann on Sunday May 6th featuring special guest Ewan Pearson.
Ewan Pearson is one of the true geniuses of electronic music. He has been making records for a living since 1995. He has recorded under several guises such as Maas, World of Apples and Partial Arts. His remixes for the likes of Hot Chip, Depeche Mode and Chemical Brothers have made him one of dance music’s most respected producers. As a DJ, Ewan's no slouch either. A regular at clubs from Space-Ibiza to The Loft-Barcelona to Panoramabar-Berlin, his sets - like the rest of his career - defy easy categorisation, marrying the independent and the underground with a pop sensibility that's all his own. Ewan Pearson will play a three hour set alongside Deep Fried Funk DJs. £8 before 10 pm / £10 after. Early arrival is advised.
Celtronic 2012 will take place at various venues across the city from June 27th - July 1st. Previous headliners have included Carl Craig, Joris Voorn, Annie Mac, Erol Alkan and Jerry Dammers. For more info., check www.celtronicfestival.com
