Balkan Alien Sound
A new sound from this superb six piece local band bringing the sounds of Eastern European and Klezmer music to the festival.
Formed in 2007 due to interest gained by travel and research of Balkan and Gypsy music and culture, the band offer their own fresh take on the dances of Bulgaria, Turkey and Romania as well as the subtle folk songs of Serbia and Macedonia takled with precision by vocalist Aideen McGinn.The fact that all the musicians are Irish is of major importance in the band and hints of their own stylings and culture can be heard within the music they play which creates the melting pot that is Balkan Alien Sound
